Early 1800's East German Painted Armoire c.1830 (Dismantles) (C9505E)
A very old East German armoire/wardrobe dating from around the early 1800’s. It was painted in 1836 and given as a wedding gift. The initials of the couple are painted above the beautiful panelled double doors. Currently inside the armoire are three shelves and a bottom drawer. The shelves are sat on adjustable bearers, so can be moved to your required height, or they can be removed and replaced with a brass hanging rail.
It has a particularly attractive cornice with tapered edges which carries on through the sides of the wardrobe. There are some nice star wood carvings to the sides.
This piece dismantles for delivery and access. There is a separate plinth (base section). The main body is in two sections which “split” down the centre and which are clamped together, and the cornice is then placed on the top. The doors are mounted on external hinges - they open fully.
